CC RTTY — Digital Mode Plugin for HamSphere 5.1

    The HamSphere RTTY Plug-in

CC RTTY brings full Baudot radioteletype capability to your HamSphere station. Decode and transmit RTTY directly inside HamSphere — no external software, no sound card routing, no fuss. Click a signal on the waterfall, watch the teleprinter text roll in, type a reply and hit Enter.

    Key features:
    • Live FFT waterfall — real-time spectrum display spanning 300–3000 Hz with adaptive AGC that keeps signals visible without washing out in noise. Heat-map color grading from blue (noise) through green and yellow to red (strong). The mark and space tones are marked with green and cyan lines and a shaded shift zone, so you can see both legs of the signal at a glance.
    • AUTO baud — automatically detects the signaling speed across 45.45, 50, 60, 75 and 100 baud. Five framing-quality decoders run in parallel and the strongest, cleanest lock wins — no guessing, no manual hunting. Or pin a fixed rate yourself. The locked speed is shown live (e.g. “75 A”).
    • AUTO reverse — mark/space polarity is detected automatically and flipped for you, so a reversed signal reads right-side-up without a thought. Prefer manual control? The button cycles AUTO → NOR → REV.
    • Crossed-bananas tuning scope — the classic X-Y phosphor tuning indicator every RTTY operator knows. Mark deflects one axis, space the other; when you’re tuned dead-on you get a clean, sharp crossed pattern. The most natural way to zero a teletype signal, right on the panel.
    • Click-to-tune — click between the two tones on the waterfall to drop the decoder onto the signal centre. Fine-adjust with the mouse wheel (±1 Hz, Shift for ±10 Hz) or the arrow keys.
    • AFC — finds the two tones in the spectrum and gently locks the centre onto the signal, tracking drift automatically while leaving your bit timing untouched. Green SYNC indicator confirms a solid copy.
    • Shift selector — one button cycles the standard shifts: 170 Hz (amateur), 425 and 850 Hz. The mark/space markers and shift zone update instantly on the waterfall.
    • Full TX capability — type directly into the TX text box or use the four macro buttons (CQ, RYRY test, RST 599, 73 SK) which automatically insert your callsign. Press Enter to transmit. The plugin generates a clean continuous-phase FSK signal with proper LTRS/FIGS handling, preamble and stop framing, and keys PTT automatically.
    • TX monitor — local FSK sidetone lets you hear your own transmission as it goes out, just like a real transceiver.
    • Scrollable teleprinter window — green-phosphor receive display with a live LTRS/FIGS shift indicator. Scroll back through everything received with the mouse wheel; click to jump back to live. Your place holds even as new text arrives.
    • Squelch — suppresses noise decoding when no signal is present. Only prints characters when the decoder is confident and synced on a real signal.
    • Live signal stats — mode, shift, detected baud and SNR updated in real time so you can see signal quality at a glance.
    • Save RX text — exports decoded text to a timestamped file with frequency, UTC time, shift and baud. One click.
    • Clear RX / Clear TX — separate clear buttons for receive and transmit text buffers.
    • Real frequency display — shows the actual transceiver frequency in the header, not a placeholder.
    • Auto sample rate detection — adapts to your audio configuration automatically on startup.

    How to operate:

Click a RTTY signal on the waterfall, aiming between its two tones — the green (mark) and cyan (space) lines show exactly where you are tuned. Set the shift to match (170 Hz for most amateur RTTY) and watch the crossed-bananas scope snap to a clean X as you zero in. Leave Baud on AUTO and the speed locks itself; if the text comes out as gibberish the signal is simply reversed — set REV to AUTO (or REV) and it corrects instantly. Enable AFC to track drift hands-free. To transmit, click the TX text box, type your message (or tap a macro button), and press Enter — the plugin handles PTT, modulation, shift and timing automatically.

    Technical:

Baudot / ITA2 (US-TTY) radioteletype at 45.45, 50, 60, 75 and 100 baud, 170/425/850 Hz shift. Dual-tone FSK front end with integrate-and-dump symbol detection and stop-bit framing validation. Automatic speed and polarity detection via five parallel framing-quality validators, each with its own DLL timing recovery, so the correct rate and sense win on merit rather than guesswork. 512-point FFT waterfall with stable adaptive AGC. Crossed-bananas Lissajous tuning scope rendered from the reconstructed band-pass mark and space tones. Continuous-phase FSK modulator with full LTRS/FIGS shifting and unshift-on-space.

CC RTTY is a serious digital mode implementation built on proven DSP algorithms, wrapped in the clean and intuitive CC-Line interface you already know.

Compatible with all HamSphere skins. Requires HamSphere 5.0 or later.
