    The HamSphere FT8 & FT4 Plug-in

CC FT8 brings full FT8 and FT4 weak-signal digital mode capability to your HamSphere station. Decode and transmit the world's most popular digital modes directly inside HamSphere — no external software, no WSJT-X, no sound card routing. Click a station on the band activity list and the plugin builds your entire reply sequence, tracks the timing slots, and works the QSO automatically.

    Key features:
    • Dual mode — FT8 and FT4 — switch between FT8 (15-second slots) and FT4 (7.5-second slots) with a single click. The plugin handles slot timing, period bars and frequencies for each mode automatically.
    • Full WSJT-X-compatible decoder — complete LDPC + CRC error correction with frequency and time oversampling, exactly as in the reference implementation. Decodes standard messages, CQ calls, grid locators, signal reports and free text.
    • Live FFT waterfall — real-time spectrum display spanning 200–3000 Hz with adaptive AGC that keeps signals visible without washing out in noise. Heat-map color grading from blue (noise) through green and yellow to red (strong). Your own transmission is shown live on the waterfall as it goes out.
    • Click-to-work QSO automation — click any decoded station in the band activity list and the plugin extracts their callsign, sets your transmit offset, converts the measured signal report into a sendable token, builds the full six-message reply sequence and arms transmit in the correct time slot.
    • Automatic slot synchronization (EVEN / ODD) — the plugin tracks the UTC-aligned transmit slots and automatically chooses the opposite parity to the station you're working, re-syncing live each time your partner is decoded — so you stay interleaved and never transmit on top of each other.
    • Unique per-callsign tone frequency — when you call CQ, your signal is automatically placed at a tone frequency derived from your callsign, so you never clash with other operators transmitting on the system at the same time.
    • Automatic band frequencies — the FT8 and FT4 operating frequency for each band is set automatically and locked. No tuning errors, no wrong-frequency QSOs. The dial is never retuned mid-transmission.
    • AUTO / MANUAL sequencing — in AUTO, the plugin steps through the standard QSO sequence and disarms cleanly after the final 73. In MANUAL, your selected message repeats each cycle for full hands-on control.
    • Six-message TX sequence — the standard CQ, grid exchange, report, R-report, RR73 and 73 messages are built for you the moment you pick a station.
    • 13-character free-text message — row 6 is a personal free-text slot. Store, edit and recall your own short messages (up to 13 characters) through the built-in personal message manager.
    • Color-coded band activity — CQ calls in green, CQ DX in red, messages to you in orange, everything else in grey. Filter to CQ-only with one click, scroll back through history with the mouse wheel.
    • TX monitor — local sidetone lets you hear your own transmission as it goes out, just like a real transceiver.
    • Live signal stats — SNR, DF offset and a running decode count updated in real time so you can see band conditions and signal quality at a glance.
    • Clean transmit safeguards — a HALT button stops any transmission instantly, a slot guard prevents late keying, and your own echoed signal is filtered out so you never accidentally work yourself.
    • Auto sample rate detection — adapts to your audio configuration automatically on startup.

    How to operate:

These are the FT8/4 operating frequencies on HamSphere:
    =============================================
    Band FT8 (kHz) FT4 (kHz)
    160M 1817 1819
    80M 3717 3719
    60M 5317 5319
    40M 7017 7019
    30M 10117 10119 (edge of beacon)
    20M 14207 14209
    17M 18107 18109
    15M 21307 21309
    12M 24907 24909
    10M 28407 28409

Select your band — the correct FT8/FT4 frequency is set for you automatically. Watch the band activity list fill with decoded stations. To answer someone, click their row: the plugin builds your reply, picks the right time slot and arms TX. To call CQ instead, set the sequencer to AUTO, click row 1 (the CQ row), and press TX ON — your transceiver goes to ARM and your CQ transmits in the next available slot. When a station replies, click their row and the plugin works the rest of the QSO for you. Just keep an accurate clock — FT8 and FT4 depend on UTC-aligned timing.

    Technical:

FT8 at 15-second slots, FT4 at 7.5-second slots. Full GFSK modulation with Gaussian pulse shaping. Complete WSJT-X-compatible receive chain: LDPC (174,91) belief-propagation decoder with 14-bit CRC, Costas sync detection, and frequency/time oversampling. Standard message, free-text and non-standard callsign unpacking with hashed-callsign lookup. 2048-point FFT waterfall with adaptive AGC. Automatic UTC slot-parity tracking with live QSO partner re-synchronization.

CC FT8 is a serious digital mode implementation built on proven, reference-grade DSP algorithms, wrapped in the clean and intuitive CC-Line interface you already know.

Compatible with all HamSphere skins. Requires HamSphere 5.0 or later.
