Multi-band Trap Dipole
The Trap Dipole antenna is a classical antenna in our series of HS4 Legendary Multiband Wire Antennas. It covers 6 bands, 10-15-20-30-40-80m. This is multi-band resonant antenna The performance characteristics is similar to a normal dipole and is driven through a 50 Ohm coaxial cable and features low SWR on all bands. The radiation pattern is bidirectional with broadside lobes.
The traps in a trap dipole are parallel-resonant tuned circuits that "trap" an RF signal to prevent it from passing beyond a specific point on a conductor (a wire, a metal tube, etc). At some other frequencies, however, the traps no longer act like “traps” and instead allow the RF to pass.
A trap-style antenna is not quite as efficient as a full-size dipole. Our Multi band dipole is a typical 6-band trap dipole antenna using 3 traps och each side. The traps block RF at a specific frequency, or allow it to pass. From an electrical standpoint, this effectively lengthens or shortens the antenna.
This antenna is deployed at a height of 12m (40 ft.) above average quality ground and the design accounts for ground absorption losses, antenna wire insulation dielectric losses, other structural losses, etc.
